Twitter to ban users from posting links to rival social platforms

It’s the latest controversial move by the company and its new owner Elon Musk.

TWITTER HAS ANNOUNCED it will prohibit users from including links to other social media platforms in their posts, the latest move by the company and its controversial owner Elon Musk.

“At both the Tweet level and the account level, we will remove any free promotion of prohibited 3rd-party social media platforms, such as linking out (i.e. using URLs) to any of the below platforms on Twitter, or providing your handle without a URL,” Twitter said in a statement on its website.

The outside platforms include Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Post and Truth Social, as well as third-party social media link aggregators such as linktr.ee and ink.bio.

Well it would be like Ireland if FG became perma-party and hand picked the only candidates allowed to stand in a general election.

At least we can still vote them out if we don’t like the way they’re running the country.

Vote them out and put who in !? Probably better to live in Hong Kong – no McNultygate there or corrupt weasels like Kenny, Ahern and Haughey

I’m sure there is corruption in China – just as there is everywhere else. However, Enda ‘reform’ Kenny does not preside there and there can be nobody like ‘Big’ Phil even among their 1.3 billion population.

The protesters stated from the beginning that it was going to be a peaceful protest. And with the ultimatum yesterday from the Chinese government that they would take any steps necessary to reopen the roads and government buildings the protesters knew that to avoid the confrontation that would have lead to violence it was better to leave with dignity and plan a new strategy.
