Two elderly pensioners injured in Tuam aggravated burglary
The two men aged in their 80s received minor injuries during an aggravated burglary involving two masked men in Galway yesterday.

TWO MEN AGED in their 80s have been treated for injuries following an aggravated burglary in Tuam, Co Galway, yesterday.

Investigating Gardaí have appealed for information about the incident, which occurred at at Ballyroe, Williamstown, Co Galway.

The intruders entered the house at about 11am on Thursday and stayed for a number of hours before fleeing with a small amount of cash at approximately 2.30pm.

It is believed that they were in possession of a knife and a firearm.

One of the culprits has been described as approximately 5’5″ in height, of a medium build, wearing a balaclava, dark clothes and runners. The second culprit was taller, of a medium build, and also wearing a balaclava with dark clothes and runners. Both were male.

The two elderly victims received minor injuries during the incident and received medical attention locally, according to Gardaí.

Gardai in Tuam are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any thing unusual or saw any suspicious activity in or around the area during the time or in the preceding days, or has any information concerning the incident to contact Tuam Garda Station at 093- 70840, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
