Two men airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after single-vehicle crash in Co Longford

The two men, both in their 30s, were airlifted to separate hospitals.

TWO MEN HAVE been airlifted to hospitals after suffering serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Derrylough, Co Longford. 

The collision occurred on the R392 this evening and gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. 

“At approximately 6.45pm, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident involving a car,” a Garda spokesperson said. 

The two men, both in their 30s, were airlifted to separate hospitals. One was taken to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital and the other to the Midlands Hospital Tullamore.

The road remains closed pending a technical examination by forensic investigators, the spokesperson said.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 6.30pm and 7pm are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
