Two people winched to safety by helicopter after becoming stranded on cliff in Waterford

Shortly before 4pm, both people were winched to safety by the Coast Guard R117 Helicopter.

TWO PEOPLE WERE winched to safety in Waterford after they found themselves stuck on a cliff near Dunmore East this afternoon.

The Marine Rescue Co-Ordination Centre in Dublin tasked the Dunmore East Coast Guard Unit and the Waterford based Coast Guard Helicopter R117 to the scene.

Shortly before 4pm, both people were winched to safety by the Coast Guard R117 Helicopter. 

They were handed over to the Coast Guard team and An Garda Síochána.
