A FINE GAEL and Independent TD were having a go at each other on Twitter today over all sorts of issues – from election promises to penalty points to swimming pools.
Frank Feighan and Luke Ming Flanagan - both TDs for Roscommon/Leitrim – didn’t hold back as they had a full-blown spat on social media for everybody and anybody to see.
Feighan mentioned Mings brush with penalty points, noting that his fellow countyman had them quashed:

They then moved on to the pressing issue of the promise that the local swimming pool would have its roof repaired:
Ming said he was doing lots about it:

A feasibility and 4 visits to the UK & Belgium? To get a roof fixed? Ffs, call a local roofer. Surely to God it can’t be that big an issue to fix a roof.
Good thing it wasn’t the whole swimming pool or they’d still be away somewhere.
Wonder did he go at the expense of the tax payer for those said visits?

Both equally useless, Feighan even more so considering his abandonment of the people of Roscommon in regards Roscommon Hospital A and Europe.

Same thing is happening in all developed countries. Hospitals are an order of magnitude more expensive to operate than 50 years ago, they are the a few staff and bandages and a X-ray machine. They are being centralized and increasing specialization.
Plus travel is about 3 times quicker with new roads and air ambulances. It needs to be managed proper but nothing is going to reverse the trend. It’s a medical nessacity.

David you tell that to a family that has lost a loved one in the back of a Ambulance on the way to Galway because Roscommon A and E was closed despite Kenny and O Reilly promising otherwise.

How can you possibly regard the closure of Roscommon Hospital A&E as abandoning the local people when you read the evidence before the current Medical Council on the same subject.
Just months before the closure of that unit we have the three most senior Consultants in that Hospital stating under oath that the facility was highly dangerous to patients because the medical cover was not available. When it further transpired that fewer than fifty percent of the Junior doctors were sufficiently experienced to treat patients it is clear that patients lives were at risk by keeping the place open!
In these circumstances it would have been criminally negligent to keep the facility open and the only solution was to close it to serious cases.
Legally ethically and medically the correct decision was taken. End of!

Suffice to say I hope Frank Feighan has a back up plan because after 2016 his Dail days are over.
But if it’s dangerous to keep it open what should the doctors do? The new childrens hospital will be a half a billion which shows the cost of modern hospital. Mount Carmel closed because it was going to cost too much to keep it up to spec.
If you have a solution then we can do that. But all the research from the medical community is pointing towards centres of excellence and specialized hospitals. Should we increase health funding and if so where should the cuts be made? Education, wages, Pensions?
David you know for a fact it was dangerous to keep open? Ignore Richard that’s the same idiot who praised Hogan for the septic tank charge because otherwise he’d never have known he was polluting the local water course.
And that is on the lies told by Mr Kenny and James Reilly 2 years and 5 months ago and the records have NOT been put right by the same liars

Maybe, apart from pointing at politicians, who shouldn’t be carrying out this nonsense in the first place either, but also…just maybe, we should all step back from hitting send until proof reading, even our thoughts too.
