Fermanagh shooting victims to be buried together in Clare as funeral details confirmed

Vanessa Whyte and her children James and Sara Rutledge will be buried in Templemaley Cemetery in Co Clare on Saturday.

VANESSA WHYTE AND her two children, who were shot dead in Co Fermanagh last week, are to be buried together near her home town in Co Clare this weekend.

Ms Whyte, 45, her son 14-year-old James Rutledge and and 13-year-old daughter Sara Rutledge were killed at their home in Maguiresbridge on Wednesday.

On Monday night, the man suspected of killing them, Ian Rutledge, died in hospital.

Last week, police said a suspected triple murder and attempted suicide was one line of inquiry for detectives.

Funeral arrangements for Vanessa Whyte and her children James and Sara Rutledge were announced on social media.

“Vanessa was a devoted mother, a loving and beloved daughter and sister and a loving and beloved daughter-in-law and sister-in-law,” WT Morrisson Funeral Directors said.

They described James as “a much-loved son, brother, and grandson” and Sara as “a dearly loved daughter, sister, and granddaughter”.

A removal service will take place in St. Mary’s Church, Maguiresbridge on Wednesday at 11am.

Ms Whyte and her children will lie in repose in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Barefield, Co Clare on Friday.

Their funeral mass will be held in Barefield on Saturday before they are buried together in Templemaley Cemetery.

Those attending the funeral have been asked to wear bright colours, and those wishing to donate money have been invited to send donations to Women’s Aid.
