AS A NATION, it’s fair to say that we’re getting more and more aware of our impact on the environment. Knowing where our food is coming from and using sustainable materials is fast becoming second nature.
For those with a lean toward living more eco-conciously, a prefabricated house like Rockwood in Co Waterford might just be your answer.
Spread over 3.315 sq ft, this German designed home was constructed by DaVinci Haus, a company that designs low energy homes at its factory in Essen, and then builds them, on site, in less than a week.
The interior of this home is on a par with its impressive exterior. A peek inside this open plan space brings you face to face with a monochrome backdrop, which sets it up nicely for the whole host of fun art-inspired and designer pieces that furnish the space.
Through the use of colour and DaVinci Haus’ signature beams, this house has done most of the work for you when it comes to zoning an open plan space. Large double glazed windows keep the heat in, while offering great views of the surrounding garden and lawn.
The open plan space also provides access to the patio area that’s ideal for outdoor entertaining and chilling out in the hot tub. This area can also be accessed from the gym and utility room that are located off the entrance hallway.
Also located off the hallway is another sitting room. Nicely-sized, it could also work as a fourth bedroom.
Upstairs, there are three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. Spacious and well-lit, they make no bones about utilising the great views. One characteristic of a DaVinci Haus home is the slanted roof, which adds an interesting design element to the room.
Rockwood is just 15km from Waterford City, and 2km from the village of Dunhill offering privacy and nature-filled surroundings without being too secluded. And, thanks to there being no traffic lights between Rockwood and Dublin Airport, you can get checked in within two hours.
Primary schools are in the nearby towns of Dunhill and Fenor, while secondary schools are between 12km and 15km away in Tramore and Waterford City, respectively.
For families who love the outdoors, the Waterford Greenway and Annestown beach are within easy access, as are a number of golf clubs, including Waterford Castle Hotel and Golf Club and Tramore Golf Club.
Rockwood, Ballycraddock, Dunhill, Waterford City, Co Waterford is on sale for €1,100,000 from Sherry Fitzgerald John Rohan via Daft.ie.
