The weather is briefly ok this weekend - but is going to get bad again next week

Sorry.

DON’T EVEN THINK about putting that umbrella away.

Ireland is experiencing a brief respite from the weather warnings and freezing rain that have dogged large parts of the country for the past few weeks – but colder and more unsettled weather is on the way.

Met Éireann says temperatures will hit a balmy six to ten degrees today, which is slightly warmer than previous days.

It will be cloudy across the country with scattered showers kicking in by evening time.

However it is set to turn colder by the end of this week, particularly on Thursday and Friday.

It is also set to be wet: the Met Éireann forecast currently expects Tuesday to be “a dull and wet day” while Wednesday is likely to be “another rather wet day”.

Overall, it’s going to be an unsettled start to the week with spells of rain, with the weather getting drier and colder towards the end of the week.

Parts of the country were hit by significant flooding after heavy rainfall in recent days.

Clontarf Baths, the popular seawater swimming pool in north Dublin, was substantially damaged by Thursday night’s rain and flooding.

“We got absolutely bashed here. I’ve never seen anything like it,” the pool’s operator Bobby Nolan told The Journal
