A STATUS YELLOW rain warning has been issued for Carlow, Cork, Dublin, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford, and Wicklow.
The warning comes into effect at 11pm tomorrow and is due to expire at 11pm on Wednesday.
A Status Yellow wind warning has also been issued for Wexford, Wicklow, Dublin, Meath, and Louth. This warning comes into effect at 11pm tomorrow and is due to expire at 1pm on Wednesday. Met Éireann said the wind may result in fallen trees and wave overtopping.
Donegal, Leitrim, and Sligo have been issued with a separate rain and snow warning, coming into effect at 2am on Wednesday and expiring at 2pm the same day.
Met Éireann said that flooding is likely given the already saturated ground combined with high river levels.
It also warned of poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.
The latest spate of weather warnings follows heavy rain and fierce winds across the country, but particularly in the east and southeast. Several communities, notably in Wicklow and Wexford, were devastated by flooding.
Last month, Dublin experienced its second wettest January on record, with the month this year being the wettest since 1948. Met Éireann noted that it was the wettest January nationally since 2018 and the 18th wettest overall.
