Weather Warning

Probably best settling in for Love/Hate later, it's going to be nasty out

Wind and rain weather warnings are in place.

RAINFALL AND WIND warnings have been put in place across the country by Met Éireann who expect up to 40mm or rain to fall this evening and tonight.

Despite a calm and clear morning for most of the country today that will continue for much of today, Met Éireann have a status orange warning in place for parts of the east, west and south coasts due to expected strong winds.

Southeast winds of between 50 and 70 km/h are being predicted for Sunday evening and night with gusts up to 100 to 120 km/h also expected, mostly in coastal areas.

Exposed parts of the south and east are expected to get the worst of the gusts.

The rainfall warning is less severe at status yellow with between 25-40mm of rain expected to fall between this evening ant 6 am tomorrow morning.

Met Éireann say that widespread surface water should be expected across the country with flooding likely in some areas.
