Whether you’re into social history, traditional music or heritage buildings, there’s a show for you.

Here are our picks of five must-see shows to watch out for and stream on TG4 in November.

Buildings Beo

  • From Dé Céadaoin/Wednesday 19 November at 9.30pm

Buildings Beo is a property show with a difference: it’s not only about the renovation of heritage buildings all around the country, but also about the people and the communities who bring these buildings to life. Across the series, Carrie Crowley takes a closer look at six inspiring projects across Ireland, where architectural legacies are being preserved and transformed into vital community spaces.

This is a particularly important time for a show like this, given there are currently over 166,000 vacant buildings in Ireland. The series sheds light on the urgent need for renewal of abandoned spaces, and what can be achieved with investment and fresh ideas.

Beo Faoin bhFód/Buried Alive

Beo faoin bhfód 1 Beo Faoin Bhfód TG4.ie TG4.ie

  • Dé Céadaoin/Wednesday 26 November at 9.30pm

Being buried alive is the average person’s worst nightmare. But for Mick Meaney, being buried alive was his aim. In 1968, the Irishman was buried six foot under the London soil in a simple wooden coffin, with hundreds turning out to see his ‘burial’. Why did he do such a bizarre thing? Because he was competing in the world record competition for ‘Longest Time Spent Buried Alive’.

This Irish documentary looks at Mick’s story, but also shows that the history of buried alive stunts stretches back decades. The tale begins in 1920s California and ends with a Dutch nun buried under a fairground in Skegness. Helping to tell this bizarre and fascinating story is Mary Meaney, daughter of Mick.

Glacaim Leat

  • Dé Céadaoin/Wednesday 19 November at 9.30pm

It’s a decade since Ireland made history in 2015 by being the first country to legalise same -sex marriage by public referendum. Glacaim Leat is a documentary that looks at this momentous decision and how it impacted people’s lives. It follows both those who were involved in shaping the journey to the referendum, and those living its legacy, culminating at Dublin Pride 2025.

This documentary has an important resonance today, given the challenges facing LGBTQ+ people across the world. By telling this story, it asks: what was promised in 2015, and has that been borne out a decade on?
