Man arrested over discovery of body in Wicklow woodlands

Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Philip O’Toole earlier this month discovered a body of a man in the Wicklow woodlands yesterday.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with the discovery of the body of a man by gardaí investigating the disappearance of Arklow man Philip O’Toole.

The body of a man was discovered at Trooperstown Wood near Rathdrum in the Wicklow woodlands just before 11am yesterday morning.

A man aged in his 40s was arrested in the Bray area this morning as part of gardaí’s investigation into the discovery.

He is being detained at Bray Garda station under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 which means he can be held for up to seven days.

Philip O’Toole, 33, was last seen leaving his home in Arklow on Monday 7 January.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for information in relation to the case, asking any person who may have seen anything suspicious involving persons or vehicles between the 7  January and yesterday at Trooperstown Wood to contact them.
