Woman (80s) dies in hospital after being hit by bus in Blackrock last week

A man in his 30s also died in hospital yesterday after being seriously injured in a road crash.

A WOMAN IN her 80s died in hospital after she was hit by a bus in Blackrock last week.

The collision occurred on Wednesday 25 March. The woman was out walking when she was struck at the junction of Main Street and Bath Place.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident shortly before 1:10pm. The woman was brought to St Vincent’s University Hospital with serious injuries, but died in hospital on Friday morning.

The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged, gardaí said. No other injuries were reported.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Also on Friday, a man injured in a single-vehicle collision shortly after midnight on Sunday 29 March in Ballymahon in Co Longford also died in hospital.

In Letterkenny in Co Donegal, a woman was injured on Friday after she was struck by a lorry at Station Roundabout on Port Road while out walking in the afternoon.

The pedestrian, aged in her 40s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
