EVERY DAY, TheJournal.ie brings you the nine stories you need to know as you kick off your day.

Sentencing him yesterday, Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne said she could not ignore the extent and degree of contempt by Quinn.

2. #NORTHERN IRELAND: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said the killing of prison officer David Black in Armagh was an “outrageous and cowardly act”. Clinton praised the PSNI for its swift efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice and said the United States remains resolute in its support of the people of Northern Ireland.

3. #CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL: The Government is set to pick St James’s Hospital in Dublin as the location for the new national children’s hospital, according to reports in today’s papers. 5. #SEXUAL HEALTH: The number of STIs in Ireland increased by 12 per cent last year with the number of cases of gonorrhoea now at its highest rate ever recorded. The report by the HSE’s Health Protection Surveillance Centre found that more than half of all STIs were recorded in people aged between 20 and 29.

6. #ARREST: A second man has been arrested by Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of 22-year-old Shane O’Connor in Coolock last Monday. The man in his 20s is being held at Coolock Garda Station.
