A MAN IS due in Dublin District Court this morning in connection with a serious assault in Coolock at the weekend, which has left a 27-year-old Polish man on life support. Two teenagers are also being detained by gardaí in connection with the incident.

Poll: Have you reduced your alcohol consumption in the past year?
THE AMOUNT OF alcohol consumed in Ireland fell by 4.4 per cent in the last 12 months, while in the past 12 years, it declined by 20 per cent.
“The majority of people in this country consume alcohol in a moderate, responsible manner that is entirely compatible with a healthy lifestyle and in line with European norms,” said Kathryn D’Arcy, director of Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland.
Some people can no longer afford to drink alcohol, others could be looking after their health, while many have suggested that the reduction in consumption could be related to emigration rates.
