1. #SAVITA: A number of staff at University Hospital Galway have been disciplined over the Savita Halappanavar case. Out of 30 staff members whose actions were considered, 21 had “no case to answer”, it was found.

2. #ISLAMIC STATE: Barack Obama has ordered a “relentless” war against the Islamic State group, including air strikes in Syria and expanded operations in Iraq. He made a televised address to the nation last night.

3. #PISTORIUS: The verdict in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial is to be delivered today — but the process is far from simple. More here.

4. #RIP Richard Kiel, the towering actor best known for portraying steel-toothed villain Jaws in the James Bond films, has died aged 74. Kiel appeared in both 1977′s ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ and 1979’s ‘Moonraker’.

5. #KILLER SPIDERS: More than 100 deadly spiders have been found in an abandoned house in Co Carlow, the Irish Mirror reports this morning. Black Widows, Funnel-Web Spiders and Tarantulas were amongst the arachnids discovered.

6. #KNIFE-EDGE Things are still looking incredibly tight in the Scottish independence referendum. A new poll now suggests a narrow lead for the ‘no’ campaign. The BBC has more.
