Man left in critical condition after late-night attack in Dublin city centre

It happened on Foley Street, near Connolly Station, on Monday night.

AN ARREST HAS been made after a man was left in a critical condition following an assault in Dublin.

It happened on Foley Street, near Connolly Station, at around 11.40pm on Monday of this week. 

The man, in his 30s, was taken to the Mater hospital at 2am to be treated for serious injuries, and he remains in a critical condition.

A second man, also in his 30s, has since been arrested and is currently detained at a garda station in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

Anyone who was near Foley Street, Talbot Street and James Joyce Street between 11.30pm and 2am on the night of Monday 6 July into the morning of Tuesday 7 July and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, is asked to make this available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Store Street garda station on (01) 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
