Armed thieves escape with undisclosed amount of cash in Meath robbery

The two men, both wearing balaclavas and surgical-type gloves, stole the money from a transit van in Bettystown at lunchtime this afternoon.

TWO MEN ESCAPED with an undisclosed sum of cash after a robbery from a transit van in Meath earlier this afternoon.

Gardaí said the two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, approached the vehicle in Bettystown at around 1.20pm and demanded cash. Both men were wearing balaclavas and surgical type gloves.

Gardaí have said both men escaped on foot after the robbery. No injuries were sustained during the incident.

One man was dressed in a blue stripped top and black trousers. The second man wore a dark navy top and black trousers.

Gardaí have asked anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident, or anyone with any information on the robbery, to contact Laytown Garda station at 041 981 3320, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
