Deceased man found in Carlow hotel named

The man has been named by gardaí, who said today that a technical examination of the scene is ongoing.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS been opened by gardaí after the body of a man was found in a hotel in Carlow.

Gardaí at Carlow are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a man at a hotel in Carlow yesterday.

They said that the discovery was made at approximately 1.15pm on Friday afternoon. The man’s body was removed to Naas General Hospital where a post-mortem examination was carried out by the deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis earlier today.

According to gardaí, no physical injuries were disclosed during the examination, and the results are inconclusive. Investigators are now awaiting toxicology and other test results.

The man has been named as 44-year-old Colm Kavanagh from Killeshin, Co Laois. An examination of the scene by members of the Garda Technical Bureau is ongoing.
