THE AMBITIOUS PLAN to transform a disused Boeing 767 into accommodation at a Sligo glamping village remains on track.
David McGowan’s plan was a little up in the air when he struggled to find a tug-boat to bring the 159-feet-long plane to Enniscrone.
But after sourcing a boat from the UK, the wings have been chopped off the plane ready for it to be brought to its new home on Saturday.
It’s planned that the Quirky Nights Glamping Village will feature modes of transportation turned into camping accommodation – the village will also feature buses, taxis and a train.
The plane was originally owned by Russian airline Transaero and was bought from Shannon Airport for €20,000.
Over the weekend it was loaded up on an articulated truck and brought to nearby Knockbeg Point. On Thursday, it’s going to be loaded up on barge and tugged north to Sligo.
Contact information can be found on Quirky Glamping Village’s website or Facebook page.
