Mother and baby found dead following suspected medical tragedy at house in Co Tipperary

Gardaí investigating after the bodies of the woman and baby were discovered at a property in Carrick-on-Suir.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING following the discovery of the bodies of a woman and a baby at a property in Co Tipperary.

The bodies were found at a house in Carrick-on-Suir this afternoon.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination and investigations are ongoing. Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene.

It is understood that the deaths are believed to have occurred during childbirth.

Investigating gardaí are treating the incident as a medical tragedy. It is not believed that there were healthcare professionals at the home at the time.

In a statement this afternoon, a garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of an incident in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary this afternoon.”
