Second person arrested over murder of 3-year-old Brendan Owens

The 51-year-old man was detained by PSNI detectives this afternoon. A woman remains in custody.

A 51-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a three-year-old boy in Lisburn.

He is the second person to be questioned over the death of the young boy who has been named by police as Brendan Owens of Trinity Terrace.

A 27-year-old woman remains in custody as part of the PSNI probe.

The young boy was discovered by police in the early hours of 4 July at which time his death was described by local media as “sudden and unexplained”. Police are now treating it as a murder. A post-mortem examination was inconclusive.
