Man charged over firearm found during murder investigation

James McMahon (23) was remanded in prison until next week after being charged with possession of a shotgun found during investigations into the murder of Dean Johnson.

A MAN HAS been charged in connection with the discovery of a firearm and ammunition found during investigations into a murder.

James McMahon (23) appeared this morning in Blanchardstown District Court and was remanded in prison until Friday.

McMahon, who has an address in Clondalkin, was charged with the unlawful possession of a shotgun and three shotgun cartridges found during a search  on 11 September.

As part of the investigation into the murder of Dean Johnson on 24 August 2013 at Neilstown Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, gardaí carried out a number of searches in the areas of Ronanstown, Clondalkin, Cabra and Kilcock.

During the searches a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and a quantity of drugs were recovered.
