WHEN YOUR LUCK’S in, it’s in.
This British couple are celebrating after they defied odds of 283 billion/1 to win £1 million on the Euromillions for the second time.
Two years ago, Dave and Kath Long from Scunthorpe in the north-east of England became millionaires for the first time.
Dave, a lorry driver, gave up his job but the couple didn’t even move out of their mobile home.
“We’re not extravagant people,” Dave told The Guardian. “We still live in a mobile home, believe it or not. We’ve done it up nice, mind. We’ve extended it, put in a modern kitchen and added a conservatory.”
The couple did buy Kath’s 81-year-old mother a new home and they also got married after a 12-year engagement. The couple said the wedding wasn’t too fancy though and only cost them £12,000.
The also kept doing the lotto from time-to-time.
“When I won it the first time, and everything settled down and that, I believed I was going to do it again,” Kath, a retired pub landlady, told Sky News. ”I kept saying to friends and some of the family: ‘I tell you I’m going to do it again!’”
Then, last week, lightening struck for the second time and Kath’s prediction came true.
Dave bought a ticket when he noticed that there were ten £1 million prizes going in last week’s draw.
“I checked the raffle codes – something I’ve learnt to do automatically since winning last time. After a few moments I very calmly called Kath in and said, ‘Have a look at this. It’s there. Look. Read that line’.”
The couple had won £1 million again. This time they plan on moving.
“We’ve seen a four-bed advertised that looks nice,” Kath says.
