Two released in Eamon Kelly murder investigation, four still being held

Four people – three men and one woman – remain in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of the criminal gang boss last Tuesday.

TWO OF THE six people arrested in connection with the investigation into the suspected murder of criminal gang boss Eamon Kelly have been released.

A man and a woman who were being detained for questioning at Clontarf Garda Station were released without charge late last night.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Four people remain in custody with three men and a woman continuing to be held in a number of garda stations across the city.

On Friday, a 34-year-old Sean Connolly from Bluebell in Dublin, was charged with the murder of Kelly as well as IRA membership and possession of a firearm.

Kelly was fatally shot while walking on Furry Park Road in Killester in north Dublin on Tuesday afternoon. He later died in hospital.

The 65-year-old was believed to be one of the most senior figures in organised crime in Ireland.
