Here's how much sugar is in your favourite energy drink

Some of the drinks on the Irish market contain as many as 16 teaspoons of sugar.

A REPORT BY Safefood this week found a massive increase in the number of energy drinks being sold on the Irish market compared to 2002.

The research also found some of these drinks contain as many as 16 teaspoons of sugar and are sold for as little as 50 cent.

The watchdog recommended retailers refrain from selling these drinks to anyone under 16. It also warned against mixing these drinks with alcohol.
