GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the abduction of 29-year-oldCiarán Noonan from Dublin two weeks ago have found a body in Co Meath.

The body was discovered in ditch in a field on the Dublin side of Trim. Gardaí had been searching the area for a number of days.

Ciarán Noonan was abducted from Russell Avenue in the East Wall area of Dublin on 20 October in the middle of the afternoon. He was assualted and bundled into a dark Volkswagen Golf, which was later found at an apartment complex in Ashbourne.

The body remains at the scene, which has been sealed off for a technical examination. The State Pathologist’s office has been notified.

Noonan’s mother Geraldine had appeared on Prime Time, making an emotional appeal to his kidnappers to return him safely. She said that it was possible that he owed money to drug dealers.

Two women who were arrested in connection with the investigation were subsequently released without charge.

I knew the lad. He was troubled but so too were many in my area and areas like it. He did not deserve a death of that nature. no one does. I hope the gardi get the culprits because they have no fear of the law and that’s worrying.

  • Membership of, and participation in the activities of these types of gangs should carry a mandatory 30 year sentence, with no possibility of parole. These gangs operate with impunity, primarily because the deterrent is nowhere near tough enough. This cancer has been afflicting Irish society for well over 2 decades. It’s getting worse and it’s time to get real.

  • Horrible. I don’t think theyll have closure until the scum that did this are locked away. There’s too many of these people thinking that they can do what they want to whom they want. A tough government response is required to crush these gangs out of existence.

    • Except that most people get into drugs when they are very young and are not capable of understanding the consequences what they are doing. I would imagine that this poor fella had been living with addiction for many years and who are any of us to post such glib comments about a very sad subject.

  • Disgusting that these pigs could batter someone to death and then leave them rotting away in a ditch. They kill people so simply because of money due but by killing them there never going to get the money anyway! Senseless act of violence and a waste of a life! Scum of the earth! Scary people like this exist.

  • While I wouldn’t wish death upon him, I struggle to sympathise.
Perhaps there is a larger social issue at play here, but it doesn’t justify his or his killers’ actions.

    • Liam, you struggle to sympathise ???… This man was beaten to death because he owed someone money … I hope you or your family never have to go through what ciaran or his family have gone through …. You’re just a man with an opinion but not a clue, do yourself a favour and take your comment down if not for yourself for the sake of his family and friends

At the end of the day, he’s someone’s son.
