The body was discovered in ditch in a field on the Dublin side of Trim. Gardaí had been searching the area for a number of days.

Ciarán Noonan was abducted from Russell Avenue in the East Wall area of Dublin on 20 October in the middle of the afternoon. He was assualted and bundled into a dark Volkswagen Golf, which was later found at an apartment complex in Ashbourne.

The body remains at the scene, which has been sealed off for a technical examination. The State Pathologist’s office has been notified.

Noonan’s mother Geraldine had appeared on Prime Time, making an emotional appeal to his kidnappers to return him safely. She said that it was possible that he owed money to drug dealers.
