Seven Irishmen from same family arrested over alleged home repair scam in Australia

It’s reported they were convincing elderly people to hand over cash and then leaving the work incomplete or shoddily done.

SEVEN MEN FROM the same family have been arrested in Perth, Australia over an alleged house repair-work scam.

Police arrested the Irish men and seized $100,000 during a raid in Hazelmere after reports of ‘travelling conman’ complaints.

ABC news reports that the men were convincing elderly victims to hand over cash for home improvement work and then leaving the work incomplete or shoddily done.

Detective Sergeant Tony Walton told the news agency:

I’m concerned about people coming in and taking these sorts of actions against our vulnerable members of the community. These are people that can’t really protect themselves.

It’s not yet known what kind of visa the men were in Australia on.
