The Ryanair family is going to Israel
The low-fares carrier has announced new routes into and from Europe from the south of Israel.
BUDGET CARRIER RYANAIR has announced a trio of new international routes into Israel from Europe.
The airline estimates that the new routes will transport about 40,000 passengers yearly into the city of Eilat in the south of the country.
The European touchstones for the routes will be Budapest, Krakow and Kaunas (Lithuania), so there are no direct Irish options just yet.
“We are continuing to negotiate with the Israeli authorities and we look forward to growing our Israeli route network in the future,” said the airline’s chief commercial officer David O’Brien.
So Dublin-Israel may yet end up being an option.
The new flights see Ryanair breaking ground in its 31st country.
Unfortunately, the flights will be landing into Ovda airport in the city of Eilat, almost six hours drive from Tel Aviv in the north and four hours from capital Jerusalem.
So for many travellers, there may be a bit more of a journey following the flight. On the plus side, it looks very pretty.
The twice-weekly routes are set to go live in November 2015, and will be on sale from tomorrow at a discount rate until Friday 10 July.
