TWO WOMEN WERE rescued from a cold and foggy Kerry mountain over the weekend after becoming lost.

The two walkers had begun their hike on Mangerton Mountain early on Saturday morning before becoming disorientated during their descent.

They used a mobile phone to raise the alarm at about 3pm with Kerry Mountain Rescue confirming that a rescue team was then dispatched.

The rescue team say weather conditions were bad at the time with strong winds and poor visibility on the mountain.

After a number of hours of searching, the team members located the women at about 7pm in an area known as the Horses Glen. They were on steep and dangerous ground.

The walkers were given food and warm clothing by the rescue team before being guided off the mountain.
