DUBLIN FIRE BRIGADE has brought a large fire close the M50 in north Dublin under control.
A total of five units attended the incident near Santry.
Several witnesses reported seeing large clouds of black smoke, visible from the airport, prompting “a large number” of 999 calls to emergency services.
A Dublin Airport Authority spokesperson told TheJournal.ie the fire was not on the grounds of the airport, and flights had not been affected.
It is not clear what started the fire, but Dublin Fire Brigade has confirmed that “tyres are involved.”
It was brought under control shortly before 1.30am this morning. Two units remained at the scene overnight.
