Man in his 70s killed in car crash

The occupants of the second car, a man, aged in his 40s and a 5-year-old boy were also injured in the collision.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING a crash that left a man in his 70s dead.

The crash occurred at Ballybrowne, Clarina, Limerick this morning at around 9am.

A man aged 73 was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with another vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body taken to Limerick University Hospital where a post mortem was carried out.

The occupants of the second car, a man, aged in his 40s and a 5-year-old boy were also injured in the collision.

They were taken to Limerick University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information to contact them at Roxboro Road Garda station on 061-214340, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111 or any Garda station.
