Limerick protesters plan to burn Irish Water forms to give Government a 'Halloween scare'

It’s estimated that approximately 6,000 turned out to protest against the charges.

UPDATED 5:55pm

THOUSANDS TURNED OUT in Limerick this afternoon to protest against water charges.

The ‘We won’t pay the water tax’ Facebook page stated, “This Halloween season – let’s give the government the worst nightmare: Mass non-payment and non-compliance with the water charges.”

The march was organised by the Anti-Austerity Alliance.

The party says that, “Some marchers are expected to be in Halloween costumes, and when the march arrives back to City Hall they are going to burn some forms from Irish Water, as a statement of their intent to boycott this charge.”

Alliance councillor, Cian Prendiville, said, “The water charge issue is “haunting Government” and is refusing to go away.”

The government are now desperate to pin the blame on Irish Water…Irish Water is a monster of a company, but it is a Frankenstein creation by this government for a particular purpose – to gather together the assets, to impose charges and to prepare for privatisation.

Meanwhile a water meter protest also took place in Gorey, Co Wexford earlier today.

Protest

It comes after tens of thousands took to the streets of Dublin to protest against the charges earlier this month.
