Lotto winner plans to get 'guy from telly' Dermot Bannon to do up her home

She was in work on Monday evening when she checked her numbers on her phone.

THE WINNER OF Monday night’s Daily Million draw collected her winnings of €1,000,000 today.

The woman, who lives in North County Dublin, wants to remain anonymous.

She was described as an ‘estatic Dublin lady’ when she visited the National Lottery offices. She said,

“At the end of the day, you can’t take it with you. I intend to spend this money on the people who matter to me, with a bit for myself too, and have a lovely time.

“I also have loads of plans for my home; big renovation on the whole house, new kitchen.

I might even ask that Dermot Bannon guy from the telly to help me out with the plans! I’m also buying a new car – Ford Fiestas are nice, so maybe one of those.

“And a lovely holiday as well. And I have a big birthday myself later on this year, so a big party for me would be nice too!”

The woman said she was in work on Monday evening when she checked her numbers on her phone:

I was thinking I should have gone to Specsavers, ‘cos the numbers on my ticket were the same as the results page from the Lottery website on my mobile and that just couldn’t be right! So I asked a work friend to recheck the numbers for me.

“He said: ‘Looks like it’s you alright’, gave me a big hug, and said ‘it couldn’t happen to a nicer person’. I still don’t believe it, I’m way too calm. Suppose it hasn’t sunk in yet.”

She was surrounded by her family and grandchildren in the National Lottery offices today and revealed that she bought the winning €3 Quickpick Daily Million ticket in the Eurospar store in the Feltrim Shopping Centre, Kinsealy, Swords on Monday.

“I don’t play Daily Million every day. I play it on the days when the Lotto and EuroMillions draws aren’t on. I won a free scratch card on it a few Christmases ago, and on the scratch card, I won €500. It made my Christmas that year. But this win! Well, I’m gobsmacked.”

Tonight’s Lotto jackpot will be an estimated €4.5 million tonight, while EuroMillions is an estimated €70 million this Friday.
