Man dies in Clare workplace accident

The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed that it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident at a garage in Sixmilebridge.

A MAN HAS DIED after an accident at a workplace in Co Clare earlier today.

A mechanic was working under a car in his garage near the town of Sixmilebridge when it is understood that the vehicle collapsed on him this morning.

Newstalk reports that the mechanic was 54-years-old and a father-of-four. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body has been removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick and a post mortem examination is to be carried out.

The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed that the accident was reported to it this morning and it is is investigating the circumstances of it.
