  • take it from a firefighter/EMT it may not be so ridiculous as you think. some areas in the US where I now work charge for ambulance others have public EMS and do not, big difference in proportional call volume, people cannot afford so do not call. I can see someone thinking I cannot afford a fire call and I can handle this then collapsing from smoke inhalation perhaps. Any charge for fire or EMS service is immoral it costs innocent lives.

Poor man! Horrible way to die

  • you’d wonder if the call out charge would put people off calling the fire brigade, absolute extortion for such a vital service!

    • of all the trolling comments this is stupid that people strapped for cash might try tackle a fire themselves because they dont have 500e to call out the fire brigade?

  • Are you serious ? You think some people would not call the fire brigade in the event of a fire because of the cost ! Please tell me I’m not wrong in thinking that is a ridiculous statement.

    • fire starts out small enough you try tackle it yourself and it gets out of control, it can happen and for the sake of 500/600e you might risk it especially if you’re struggling to get by. Thats more than my rent!

    • Abi, please tell me your trolling and not serious?

    • I’m not trolling, it is an extortionate call out charge that many people cant afford and may try deal with a fire that has started out small themselves as they cant afford the charge and as dean counts said below could suffer smoke inhalation in the mean time. How is pointing that out trolling?
