Man dies after shooting in Killester/Clontarf, man arrested at the scene

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s at the scene and he is being detained at Clontarf Garda Station.

A MAN WHO was shot as he was walking on Furry Park Road, in Killester, just by Clontarf, shortly after 4pm this evening has died.

The man, who is in his 60s, was injured in the incident and was taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital where he died a short time later.

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s at the scene and he is being detained at Clontarf Garda Station.

TheJournal.ie understands that a number of shots were fired.

The man is known to have been involved in crime in the 1980s and 1990s but is believed to have been living quietly in the residential area in the past few years.
