Poll: Do you think the Obamas should get the Freedom of Dublin?

The award acknowledges the contribution of certain people to the life of the city, important visitors to Dublin, or people who have made significant changes internationally.

FORMER US PRESIDENT Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are set to become the 82nd and 83rd people to be awarded the Freedom of the City of Dublin.

It comes after the proposal was ratified at a monthly Dublin council meeting yesterday evening.

However, several councillors belonging to the Anti Austerity Alliance, People Before Profit and the Workers Party staged a walk-out in protest.

They’re opposed to the Freedom of the City being offered to the Obamas because of US drone air strikes carried out under President Obama.

So today we’re asking, do you think the Obamas should get the Freedom of Dublin?
