POLICE IN WILTSHIRE have urged locals not to turn up at Savernake Forest today as they are pursuing what appear to be new developments in the search for Sian O’Callaghan.

The 22 year old office administrator disappeared after leaving a Swindon nightclub early on Sunday morning. The flat she shared with her boyfriend, 26 year old Kevin Reape, was just half a mile away. However, a signal from her mobile phone placed her in nearby Savernake Forest just half an hour later, where the police say she could only have travelled by car.

Yesterday, hundreds of locals turned up at the 4,500 acre forest to assist police with the search, the Guardian reports. However, it emerged this morning that today’s search was cancelled after “significant lines of enquiry” into the investigation have been made, according to Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher.

The enquiry moves on at a rapid pace with significant lines of enquiry being developed. The public have been fantastic in support of the search for Sian O’Callaghan and I’m very grateful.

I’ve been able to use new technological techniques to provide a tighter search parameter and have been able to rule out large areas of the 6 and a half mile radius we have all been searching.

Those tactics are being urgently progressed today by specialists. I may need further support from the public closer to the weekend but for now I would ask that people monitor the force website, media and social networks for my further requests  if they are required.

Wiltshire Police have released  stills from the CCTV footage of O’Callaghan leaving Suju nightclub. A reward of £20,000 was also offered by an anonymous donor for anyone who can help find the missing woman.
