'You can't change facts': Savita report with government next week

The chairman of Regional Health Forum West said around 30 people are mentioned in the final report.

AROUND 30 PEOPLE are believed to be mentioned in the final report into the death of Savita Halappanavar, which is to be delivered to government a week from today.

The chairman of Regional Health Forum West, Councillor Pádraig Conneely, told TheJournal.ie that the final report was sent to “all the people named in the report or were on the investigating team” last week.

They have two weeks to respond to it and if they want to respond, they need to do so by next Friday.

The chairman said that he believed that “there are in the region of 30 people who are named in it” and that previous drafts had followed the same two-week protocol.

When asked about whether previous drafts had resulted in amendments being made, he said: “I don’t know. You can’t change facts.”

An earlier draft of the report by the Health Service Executive is believed to have said that Halappanavar’s blood infection had gone undiagnosed for days.

Savita’s husband, Praveen, refused to cooperate with the HSE enquiry, believing that it should have been conducted in public and held independently.
