Rare celestial sight captured in range of incredible images taken around the world.

THE MOON CAME CLOSER to the Earth last night than it has been in almost 20 years, appearing 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than more frequent full moons, according to NASA.

The last full Moon of this magnitude occurred in March 1993.

NASA said that such events do not trigger natural disasters, but can cause slightly higher tides as lunar gravity draws tidal waters a few centimetres higher than usual.
