The huge vessels have begun arriving in advance of the three-day festival, which gets underway tomorrow.

OVER FORTY SPECTACULAR tall ships have begun arriving in Dublin as part of the 2012 Tall Ships Races.

The German vessel The Alexander von Humboldt arrived at the South Quays earlier this afternoon in preparation for the festivities, which officially get underway tomorrow.

The largest of the ships will arrive at 1pm tomorrow afternoon, when the East Link Toll Bridge will lift for The Amerigo Vespucci, which will enter the port backwards as it is too large to turn.

Earlier tomorrow the Mexican Class A Tall Ship The Cuauthemoc will arrive. The best view for both arrivals is at Sir John Rogerson Quay.

All of the ships’ captains will gather with Tall Ships First Mate Keith Duffy and the Lord Mayor to officially open the festival.
