Air temperatures will fall as low as minus two degrees.

TEMPERATURES ARE SET to drop below freezing tonight with widespread ground frost and icy patches.

Met Eireann is forecasting a cold night with air temperatures falling to between minus two and plus two degrees.

However, tomorrow will start off dry with sunny spells clearing any frost.

Rain is expected to become widespread over the northern half of the country during the afternoon but it will stay dry over Munster and more southern parts of Leinster until the evening.

Temperatures will gradually rise to between 8 degrees and 12 degrees in freshening southwesterly winds.
