HERE ARE ALL the things we learned, loved and shared today.
THINGS WE LEARNED
#SHOOTING A man was shot dead outside The Huntsman pub in Gormanston, county Meath this afternoon. It is understood the victim had links to dissident Republican activity. Gardaí are investigating.
#IRISH EXAMINER The Irish Examiner and a number of regional papers have been sold as part of a complex internal restructuring after Thomas Crosbie Holdings went into receivership. The Sunday Business Post, which is also published by TCH, is to apply to the High Court to enter examinership, while Thomas Crosbie Printers Ltd is to apply to be put into liquidation.
#HORSEMEAT Wiener sausages that were withdrawn from sale in IKEA while tests for horsemeat DNA were carried out are now back on sale. The company said that DNA analysis didn’t show any indications of horse meat.
#ROAD DEATHS A woman (39) has died after being struck by a van in Bunnahowen, Glencastle, Co Mayo this morning. This brings to eight the number of pedestrians who sadly lost their lives on Irish roads so far this year.
#RECOVERY Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore held a press conference this afternoon to mark the coalition’s second anniversary. They said the government is making “serious progress” but more work is needed in some areas. Kenny said that exiting the IMF/EU bailout programme is the “main goal” looking ahead.
