Three men arrested over serious assault, Gardaí in Blanchardstown appeal for witnesses

One man remains in hospital with serious head injuries after the assault.

A MAN REMAINS in a critical condition in hospital after receiving serious head injuries in an assault at Blanchardstown in Dublin this morning.

At about 6.30am, four men who were sitting in a parked car at Fortlawn Park were approached and set upon by a group of males, according to Gardaí. The car was taken and later found on afire a short distance away at Sheepmore Green.

During the incident, a 21-year-old who was one of the occupants of the car was seriously assaulted. He was taken by ambulance to Connolly Hospital but was later removed to Beaumont Hospital where he is still being treated.

Three men in their early 20s have been arrested and are currently being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the vicinity of Fortlawn Park of Sheepmore Green between 6am and 7am today to contact them on 01 666 7000 or the Confidential Line on 1 800 666 111.
