Temperatures to remain above normal right up to start of Leaving Cert

It will stay in the low-to-mid 20s right through the bank holiday weekend too.

WE CAN EXPECT temperatures to stay above normal for the time of year well into next week, according to Met Éireann’s latest forecast.

The warm spell will peak towards the end of this week – and while it will be a little fresher after that, it will still be hovering around the 20 degrees mark right through the first week of the State exams (sorry).

It will reach up to 24 degrees today, and it will stay warm and sunny right up to Sunday night, when we can expect a few thunderstorms.

Here’s the outlook for the start of next week, according to the weather service’s website.

“Bank Holiday Monday will continue warm and close with temperatures in the high teens or low 20s, bringing sunny spells and the risk of a few showers.

“Later in the day some rain may get into Western parts.

The rest of the week will be a little fresher especially in the West but temperatures still above normal at 18 to 21 or 22 degrees, turning more changeable, especially later in the week.

The Junior and Leaving Certificate exams begin next Wednesday, with students at both levels beginning with English Paper 1.
