end of the summer

As you were, Ireland... That 'Indian summer' isn't happening.

That’s it for summer. Roll on Halloween.

PREDICTIONS OF AN imminent ‘Indian summer’ abounded earlier this week.

But it appears the best we can hope for in the coming days is a brief respite from the rain.

Sure, it will be dry and settled. But it won’t be particularly warm at all.

Here’s the latest outlook from Met Éireann for next week – the period when we’d been hoping for a spot of early-autumn sunshine.

“The weather will be noticeably cooler with light to moderate northerly breezes and daytime temperatures ranging from 13 or 14 degrees in north to 16 or 17 degrees in the south.

“It will be mainly dry, but there’ll be a few showers at times, these most likely on north and east coasts.”

On the bright side, temperatures today could hit 19 degrees, amid a mixture of sunny spells and showers. The showers will be heaviest in the west.

After similar conditions tomorrow, Monday will be a ‘transitional’ day – with some showers in the north and west, and a good deal of drier weather in the south.
