Hello Winter Our Old Friend

This cold winter spell isn't going to last for long

Temperatures will have risen significantly by Wednesday.

ALTHOUGH WE’RE WAKING up to frost and ice this morning, this cold, winter spell isn’t due to last through the week.

Met Eireann forecasts a “very cold and frosty” night tonight but it will become “less cold as the week goes on”.

Today is due to be mostly cold but sunny across the country with temperatures of only between four and seven degrees Celsius.

Most areas will be “fully dry” with just some places in east Leinster and north Ulster experiencing showers.

Temperatures will drop as low as -4 overnight with “some icy patches” expected.

That frost and ice will clear tomorrow, again the day being bright and dry.

As the week goes on, the cold will be replaced by clouds and scattered outbreaks of rain. Temperatures should rise to between six and nine degrees by Wednesday, and even higher by Friday.

Current indications for the weekend suggest dry weather with a mix of cloud and sunny spells.
