6 of the best... stir fries for a seriously spicy (but healthy!) meal

Great recipes that talk the talk, so you can wok the wok.

A STIR FRY is a traditional Chinese cooking method where ingredients are cooked quickly on a high heat in a wok. The technique is now popular all over the world, and still stays true to its original form.

When thinking about what veggies to use in a stir fry, crunch is key! Most green veggies work really well, in particular broccoli, green peppers, spring onion, mangetout and Chinese cabbage or kale. When it comes to basic flavours, you will rarely see a stir fry without the inclusion of ginger or garlic, and these form the basis for most recipes.

As well as being a super quick meal, stir fries are very healthy, and usually combine a great balance of vegetables, lean protein and wholesome carbohydrates. Check out our recipe picks below that can all be stirred up in under 30 minutes.

1. One-Pan Prawn Stir Fry, from the Wonky Spatula: For a quick and easy recipe that can be on the table in minutes, this one pot prawn stir fry ticks all of the boxes. Why not add some roasted cashew nuts for an extra crunch?

2. Thai Vegetable Stir Fry, from The Healthy Maven: A tasty, veggie packed meal for those evenings when you’re low in time. Looking for some extra spice? Add as much or as little chilli as you fancy!

3. Orange and Five Spice Sticky Chicken Stir Fry, from Donal Skehan:
Blurb: This quick stir fry is packed with veggies, and tossed in a fragrant sweet orange sauce. Feel free to switch up the ingredients, use a different meat if you prefer, and add in whatever veggies you have to hand.
